MD TLC's Nutrition Services with Frances Konstatilakis, RD, LDN

Frances

MDTLC presents Frances Konstatilakis, Registered and Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist. Frances received her B.S. in Nutritional Science from Boston University and completed her Dietetic Internship at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA.

That's right. No more "diets" because Frances Konstatilakis, RD, LDN, does not believe in "dieting." She believes in making small changes because over time, these yield bigger results. "It's not about depriving yourself from the foods you enjoy. It's about setting goals and modifying behavior. It's not about blocking out the media because you can't decipher the food myths. It's about clarification and education. That's what my job is as a registered dietitian," says Frances.

Frances recently started her own practice and her patients are already raving about weight loss success. However, Frances does not put her patients on a "diet", per se. She individualizes a healthy eating plan for her patients, depending on their needs. Each patient comes in with a different medical history, unique lifestyle, and varied eating habits. One person may come in for a consult because they were referred by a doctor due to a new diagnosis of diabetes. Someone else may visit with Frances to optimize wellness and maximize their energy. Whatever your needs may be, Frances will work with you to individualize your plan.

Frances started her practice this past October (2007). Her office is located in the Wellesley Hills Medical Center on 422 Worcester Street in Suite 105. She is conveniently located next to Whole Foods Market, where she conducts supermarket tours to help her patients make the right food choices.

Frances recognizes that our country is in a crisis, with diabetes on the rise and heart disease being the #1 killer. Today, 65% of the U.S. population is either overweight or obese. Obesity is also rising and something needs to be done about it. With all the nutrition myths and misinformation in the media, it is so difficult to know what is accurate and what isn't. Frances wants to be a resource to the public. She wants to clarify nutrition information and she also wants to motivate you to make healthy lifestyle changes. She not only works with individuals who need weight loss, but also with those who wish to maintain wellness.

First, schedule a consult with Frances. She will review what you typically eat on a daily basis; then, she will determine what changes need to be made, and what micro- and macro-nutrients you may be lacking. She will motivate you to make lifestyle changes in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. All this can be done without traditional "dieting." The next step is following up with Frances. Whether it is just for a weigh in, a little extra motivation, or a detailed meal plan for the week, follow-ups with Frances are crucial.
